Sea glass by the seashore: Sea Glass Association Festival comes to Mystic

The International Sea Glass Association Festival comes to Mystic Seaport Museum July 29 and 30. (Contributed)

Mystic Seaport Museum is the site this year of the International Sea Glass Association Festival, running July 29 and 30.

This 17th annual event boasts artisans, speakers, a sea glass contest and more, and it is held in a different spot each year.

As part of its celebration of genuine sea and beach glass, it features lectures and showcases where folks can learn about finds from beaches around the world and can peruse (and possibly buy) unique, handmade jewelry and art from more than 50 sea glass artisans, craftspeople and authors.

Attendees can bring their sea glass discoveries for identification and to enter into a contest, with winners in 10 categories announced on Sunday.

The International Sea Glass Association (ISGA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2005 to support sea and beach glass collectors and the community and to educate about sea and beach glass.

International Sea Glass Festival, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. July 29 and 30, Mystic Seaport Museum, 75 Greenmanville Ave., Mystic; free with museum admission; mysticseaport.org.
