Lyme Art Association offers a visual trip around the world

Len Swec, "On Old US 90, West Texas", acrylic
Nick Salerno, "Watch Hill Light", acrylic (Submitted)

The Lyme Art Association in Old Lyme will hold An Exhibition in Four Acts, which showcases the assorted styles of its artists.

All shows are on view March 1-April 11, with an opening reception 2-4 p.m. March 3.

Each juried show looks at the world through a different lens.

“Phases of Light” celebrates the beauty of light. Member artists delve into the interplay between shadow and light to capture the essence of illumination.

“Rock of Ages” examines the geological beauty of the earth, focusing on the rocks and stones that define the foundation of a landscape.

“Stillness: A Still Life” is an introspection into the world of still life.

“Strictly Abstract” focuses on the abstractions of life and nonobjective art making.

Running concurrently is “All the World’s a Stage.” Shakespeare’s famous quote from As You Like It is the inspiration for this exhibition, which focuses on places outside of New England. Lyme Art Association member artists visually interprete this travel-themed show with landscape and still life artworks.

The Lyme Art Association is located at 90 Lyme St. in Old Lyme. Admission is free; contributions are appreciated. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wed.-Sun., 10am-5pm, or by appointment. Visit lymeartassociation.org or call (860) 434-7802.
