Common Good Gardens, located behind Grace Church on Main Street, Old Saybrook, is in need of volunteers on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8 to 10 a.m. and Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m. The organic garden grows and delivers vegetables to the five Shoreline Soup Kitchens' pantries. Volunteers will learn state-of-the art vegetable gardening techniques. The garden serves soup kitchen recipients in Old Saybrook, Westbrook, Clinton, Madison, East Lyme, Chester, Essex, Deep River, Old Lyme and Lyme. Volunteers also pick up day-old vegetables and fruit from six farm stands and deliver the produce to the pantries.
