Norwich is a city, true, but it has lovely areas of pure nature to enjoy as well.

Chief among them is Mohegan Park. You can saunter through trails, or you can dip into Spaulding Pond.

And, considering that we’re almost into May, set a reminder that the rose garden at Mohegan Park is usually in full, glorious bloom sometime in June. We’re talking about 2,500 rose bushes, and 120 varities.

Another impressive natural spot in Norwich is Yantic Falls. It’s a short walk from where you can park to see these amazing 40-foot-drop falls that are inevitably even more dramatic after a big rainfall.

Mohegan Park, 189 Mohegan Park Rd, Norwich; (860) 823-3798.

Yantic Falls, 210 Yantic St., Norwich.
