    H.S. roundup: Montville girls' soccer remains unbeaten in ECC Division III

    Montville — Montville and St. Bernard played to a 1-1 tie in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division III high school girls' soccer game Saturday, the second time the teams have tied this season.

    Lindsay Clement scored for St. Bernard in the 47th minute, assisted by Erin Londregan, but Montville's Alexis DeLucia answered in the 62nd minute for the deadlock, converting a free kick by Kate Bowman. Lindsey Reilly and Chloe Jennings combined for five saves for St. Bernard and Julia Beaupre had three saves for Montville.

    That puts Montville at 4-6-3 overall, 4-0-3 in the division with one ECC game remaining against Ledyard (8-2-1, 4-1-1). Montville can capture the title with a victory over the Colonels next Saturday, while Ledyard can win the championship with wins in its remaining divisional games against Montville and Griswold.

    St. Bernard is 5-4-3, 3-1-3.

    In other games:

    • Waterford tied Bacon Academy 0-0 in an ECC Division II game which raised more than $300 for the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation. McKenzie Gregory made three saves in goal for Waterford (4-5-4, 2-2-4), which outshot Bacon 9-5.

    • Ledyard came back to beat New London 2-1 in ECC Division III play. New London's Olivia Goode scored first to give the Whalers (3-8-1, 1-6-1) a 1-0 lead, but Ledyard's Lexi LaPerle scored the equalizer and Abby Millbach got the game-winner on an assist from Jess English.

    • Casey Cook and Anna O'Connor scored for Lyman Memorial in a 2-0 victory over Wheeler in ECC Division IV. Sophomore goalie Addie Hauptmann had 27 saves for Wheeler (1-11, 1-7).

    • Madison Lynch had three goals and an assist in Fitch's 6-1 win over Griswold. Griswold took a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick by Morgan Casey before the Falcons (5-7-1) scored six unanswered goals. Kelsi Ursini had a goal and an assist for Fitch and Ashley Spreng and Nevaeh Jones also had goals.

    Boys' soccer

    • Old Saybrook's Shon Ryan scored with five minutes left in the first half of its 1-1 tie with East Lyme. Kurt Mahlke scored on a penalty kick for East Lyme (7-2-2) and Owen Brown had seven saves.

    Field hockey

    • Sandy McGugan and Ellie Korinek scored for Stonington in its 2-1 win over Avon. Olivia Monte had an assist for Stonington (9-2-1) and Claire Evans had four saves.

    Volleyball

    • Sophie Dubreuil had 14 digs, 10 kills and eight aces as East Lyme beat Amity 25-13, 25-21, 25-21. Ellie Meredith had 22 assists, Mya Delesdernier 12 kills, and Arielle Vaglio four blocks for East Lyme (8-6).

    Swimming

    • Alyson Lowney won the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and swam a leg of the first-place 200 free relay team and Fitch/Stonington/New London edged Ledyard 81-78 Friday. Fitch's 200 medley relay team of Delaney Reck, Kylie Heard, Emily Tarinelli and Finella Smith won in 2:13.09 and the the 200 free relay team of Lowney, Tarinelli, Charlotte Mann and Smith was first in 1:58.09. Emma Cassidy (backstroke) and Robin Zemlo (breaststroke) won individual events for Ledyard (2-6 overall, 2-5 ECC). Fitch is 6-1, 6-1.
