    Thomas' OT goal lifts Stonington girls' soccer team to victory

    Stonington - Kelsey Thomas scored 5 minutes and 35 seconds into the first overtime period Saturday, leading the Stonington High School girls' soccer team to a 1-0 win over Montville in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Medium Division game.

    The Bears (9-2-1, 7-0-1) can wrap up the title with a win at Bacon Academy on Tuesday. Danielle Jacobs assisted on the goal and Marykate Connolly made 11 saves for the Bears. Meghan Autencio had 12 saves for Montville 6-6-1, 4-4-1).

    In other games:

    • Julie Lavoie scored two goals in a 14-minute span in the second half and Waterford won its 11th straight game, 2-0 over East Lyme in the ECC Large. Emily Diana made six saves for the Lancers (11-2, 9-0). Rachel Skelton had 12 saves for East Lyme (6-6-1, 3-5-1).

    • Mary Carenza and Katie Holdridge scored second-half goals and Norwich Free Academy defeated Ledyard, 2-1 in the ECC Large. Katherine Beasley and Yana Babbitt combined for seven saves for NFA (5-7-1, 3-5-1). Brittney Humphreys scored for the Colonels (7-6-1, 2-6-1).

    • Corrie Hoyt scored three goals and Lyman Memorial defeated Wheeler, 5-1 in the ECC Small Division. Brianne Casey had a goal and an assist and Joanna Weir also scored for Lyman (12-1-1, 8-0-1). Annie Luckhardt converted a penalty kick and Abby Souza had 12 saves for the Lions (2-10-2, 1-7-1).

    • Mackenzie Nagy had two goals and an assist and St. Bernard defeated Killingly, 4-0 in the ECC Small after five consecutive 1-1 draws. Kayla Paris and Mary Kate Bassett also scored for the Saints (5-2-5, 4-1-4).

    • Jessica Ostroski had a hand in four goals in Bacon Academy's 5-0 win over Windham in the ECC Medium. Ostroski scored three times and assisted on another goal as the Bobcats improved to 10-4, 7-2. McKenzie Downer and Keighley Blackman each scored a goal and Shelby Tallman had two assists for Bacon.

    • Colyn Petre's second-half goal broke a 1-1 tie and gave Tourtellotte a 2-1 win over Griswold in the ECC Small. Tina Corey scored for Griswold (7-6-1, 4-3-1) and Courtney Gideon made eight saves.

    • Jane Sconzo scored with 13 minutes remaining as Woodstock Academy beat Fitch, 1-0, in the ECC Large. Woodstock is 8-5-1, 6-3. Kayley Ackley had 10 saves for the Falcons (2-10-1, 0-8-1).

    Boys' soccer

    • Eddie Lorah scored his second goal two minutes into the first overtime as East Lyme edged Waterford, 3-2, in an ECC Large game for the ALS Cup. Teddy Douglas scored for East Lyme (7-4-3, 5-1-3) and Alec Smola added eight saves. Aaron Schwartz and Marco Roberto scored for the Lancers (7-5-2, 4-3-2).

    • Bacon Academy won its ninth straight game, beating Windham 2-1 in an ECC Medium Division game. Brenden Gottlieb and Nick Koss scored for Bacon (12-2, 8-1), which gave up its first goal in 617 minutes and 31 seconds when Alfredo Rodriguez of Windham scored on a penalty kick late in the game.

    Football

    • Alex Couture scored on catches of 3 and 9 yards and returned an interception 23 yards for another touchdown as Bacon Academy downed Plainfield, 41-22, in the ECC Medium. Corey Geisman had 18 carries for 119 yards and two touchdowns for Bacon (3-3, 2-1). Bacon quarterback Brennden Cullen left the game in the second quarter with a shoulder injury. Josh Randeau had five catches for 92 yards and three touchdowns for the Panthers (2-4, 0-3).

    Field hockey

    • Libby Morrison scored two goals as Stonington wrapped up ECC play undefeated with a 6-0 win over NFA. Randi Parrilla had a goal and three assists and Jackie Albert had a goal and two assists for Stonington (10-2, 10-0).
