Montville — Marcus Outlow scored 32 points as No. 5 Norwich Free Academy upset No. 1 Ledyard Thursday, 57-49, in the semifinals of the Eastern Connecticut Conference boys' basketball tournament at St. Bernard School.

NFA (15-8) takes on No. 3 New London in Friday's tournament final at 7 p.m., also at St. Bernard. That game will be shown live at www.theday.com.

New London beat Woodstock Academy 78-76 in overtime in Wednesday's other semifinal. The Ledyard-NFA game started Wednesday, and was tied 2-2 in the first quarter when the game was postponed due to condensation on the court. It was replayed Thursday from the beginning.

Thursday's game was tied 20-20 at halftime, as NFA scored the final seven points of the second quarter. Ledyard, (19-3), led 38-36 after three quarters on Thomas Whipple's lay up at the buzzer. Outlow broke a 46-46 tie by making two free throws with 3:17 left in the fourth quarter, and NFA never trailed again. Darnay Gray finished with 20 points for Ledyard.

New London, which has won the last five ECC tournament titles, split its regular-season series with NFA.
