    New London beats Morgan 57-52 to win Class M title

    Mohegan — Charee Osborne had 16 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks as fifth-seeded New London High School beat No. 6 Morgan on Sunday, 57-52, to win the CIAC Class M girls' basketball championship at Mohegan Sun Arena.

    It's the Whalers' first state title and capped a remarkable turnaround. New London (24-4) hadn't had a winning season since 2005. It also finished 2-18 two years ago.

    India Pagan had nine points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks for the Whalers and Lexus Childs-Harris added 10 points, five assists and four rebounds. Jada Lucas also scored 12 and Deanna McCarvell 10 points.

    Sami Ashton had 16 points, six assists and four steals for Morgan (22-6) and Jen Dawson added 14 points and 10 rebounds.
