Old Lyme - Brendan White, taking over for his brother Morgan at No. 1 singles, won in straight sets to lift Old Lyme to a 6-1 Shoreline Conference boys' tennis victory over North Branford on the opening day of the high school season.

White, a sophomore, topped Andrew Westwood 6-3, 6-0. Morgan White, a 2013 graduate, was the three-time Shoreline Conference singles champion. Eric Pan, Ethan Fenton and Jeffrey Zhang also won singles matches, while the pairings of Johnny Fairfield-Sohn and Josh Krasney and Alex Clippinger and Garrett McCarthy won doubles matches.

In other matches:

• Fitch swept the four singles matches to defeat Woodstock Academy, 4-3, in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division. Jacob Kowalski won a 14-12 tiebreaker at No. 2 singles and Jesse Moroyoqui won a 7-5 tiebreaker at No. 1 singles for the Falcons, whose other wins were by Williams Baldwin and Kush Kumar.

• East Lyme beat Ledyard 6-1 in the ECC Large Division. Ben Biondi, Unni Kurumbail and Eric Wu won their matches for East Lyme and Ledyard's Zach Higgins won at No. 1 singles after dropping the first set. East Lyme's Matt Chan, Nipun Hewage, Sujay Alavala, Mukesh Kurumbil, Ashish Joshi and Kevin Lei combined for three doubles wins.

• Stonington swept singles play en route to a 6-1 win over New London in the ECC Medium Division. Avery Oefinger, Alan Carroll, Doug Schweid and Mitchell Edwards won their matches and the doubles team of John Dong-Ryan Sealy also won for the Bears. The team of Wessam Hoda-Bahaa Hoda won for New London.

• Williams School blanked St. Andrew's 7-0. Josh Powell, Jack Shannon, James Burris and Hunt Welch won singles for the Blues.

Girls' tennis

• Meredith Aird didn't lose a game in winning her No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-0 as Old Lyme defeated North Branford 6-1 in the Shoreline Conference. Meghan Trausch and Marissa Smith were also straight-set winners for the Wildcats as were the doubles teams of Hannah O'Brien-Emily Brault, Hannah Behringer-Cooper Kotzan and Lauren Romeo-Holly Fiscus.

• Stonington, the defending Class S champion, beat New London 7-0 in the ECC Medium. Hannah Fabianski, Taylor Startz, Gina Feliciano and Emily Gardiner won their singles matches and Jen Carroll, Morgan Parilla, Mallory McArdle, Claire Morehouse, Chelsea Alfonso and Julie Fabrykiewicz combined for three doubles wins for the Bears.

• East Lyme didn't lose a set in defeating Ledyard, 7-0, in the ECC Large Division. Sophia Shi, Melinda Li, Katherine Wu and Shruti Alavala won singles matches for the Vikings as did the doubles teams of Julia Tan-Aimee Cicchiello, Lisa Gao-Sejal Patel and Elisa Crane-Ariel Plantz.

• Jessica Xu and Marissa Fratoni rallied for a 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (8) at No. 3 doubles to highlight St. Bernard's 5-2 win over Lyman Memorial in the ECC Small Division. Anna McKinley and Katherine Matthews also won a doubles match for Saints, who also picked up singles wins from Michaela Abate, Kat McKinley and Maddie Mahoney.

Boys' track

• Tyler Latham won four individual events as Fitch defeated Stonington 121-28 and Lyman Memorial 125.5-24.5 in Groton. Latham won the 110-meter high hurdles (15.1 seconds), the 300 intermediate hurdles (40.5), the 200 (23.1) and triple jump (41 feeet, 7 inches) for the Falcons, who also picked up two wins apiece from Brian Robinson in the shot put (39-6½) and discus (139-7) and John Floyd in the long jump (18-9) and high jump (6-3). Devin Lehman (800, 2:13.2), Conor O'Donnell (1,600, 5:16.4) and Issac Perez (pole vault, 10-6) also won events for Fitch, while Harry Calmar won the 100 (11.5) and Matt Prue the 400 (55.8) for Stonington.

Girls' track

• Fitch split a tri-meet at home, defeating Stonington 104-38 while losing to Lyman Memorial 76-70. Lyman also beat Stonington 80-70. Alicia Moroyoqui won the 800 (2:39.4) and 1,600 for the Falcons (6:01).

Boys' volleyball

• Xavier beat NFA 3-0. Matthew Belmont had 18 digs and Andrew Stone had 10 assists for NFA.

Boys' golf

• Norwich Tech beat Grasso Tech 204-211 in a Constitution State Conference match. Trevor Hutchinson of Grasso was the medalist with a six-over-par 42. Ackens King and Joe Bacon each shot a 49 for Norwich Tech.
