NFA stuns Fitch to win ECC softball title

Griswold — Megan Weir went 4-for-5, including a double and two triples, with four RBI as sixth-seeded Norwich Free Academy shocked unbeaten and top-seeded Fitch, 8-4, to win the Eastern Connecticut Conference softball championship on Saturday night at Griswold High.

NFA is 18-5.

Fitch (22-1) routed the Wildcats twice during the regular season, 7-1 (April 17) and 8-2 (May 9). The Falcons are ranked fourth in the New Haven Register Top 10 poll and are the top seed in the CIAC Class L tournament.
