    Windsor’s Williams on the rebound

Anthony "Tone" Williams runs a play during basketball practice at Windsor High School on Thursday, December 7, 2023. Williams broke his leg during a pep rally last year, right before the conference and state playoffs. After a grueling and emotionally challenging rehab, William is fully healthy and ready to lead the Warriors in his senior season. The third Day Holiday Classic will be a special night for Windsor High School’s Anthony “Tone” Williams.

It will be his first basketball game since last February when Williams broke his leg attempting to dunk at a school pep rally. Windsor, a multiple-time state championship program, ultimately lost to St. Bernard in the CIAC Division II state tournament.

Windsor will play New London in the third Day Holiday Classic on Monday at Mohegan Sun Arena. Game time is 6 p.m.

Williams and his coach, Ken Smith, sat down with GameDay last week and talked about their experiences. See the video on theday.com or here https://youtu.be/j9PFtumPWrY

The Day Holiday Classic will also feature the defending Class MM state champion New London girls vs. defending state Class L champion E.O. Smith at 4 p.m. and defending state Division I boys’ champion East Catholic vs. defending state Division II champion St. Bernard at 8.

Tickets are $10 (one ticket good for all three games) and may be purchased at https://am.ticketmaster.com/mohegan/DayBasketball2023.
