The basketball tradition in the Raynor household is now in its second generation.

Paige Raynor, a senior at E.O. Smith, will lead her defending Class L state championship team to Mohegan Sun Arena on Monday in the third Day Holiday Classic. Raynor and E.O. Smith will play defending Class MM state champion New London at 4 p.m.

Raynor’s dad, Matt, played men’s basketball at Connecticut College and was on former coach Glen Miller’s first team there. Matt Raynor established the foundation in a program that eventually went to the Division III Final Four.

Paige Raynor and her coach, Mary Roickle, sat down with GameDay last week and talked about their experiences. See the video on theday.com or here https://youtu.be/wDcUVgrXSIw

The Day Holiday Classic will also feature the defending the Windsor boys vs. New London at 6 p.m. and the defending state Division I boys’ champion East Catholic vs. defending state Division II champion St. Bernard at 8.

Tickets are $10 (one ticket good for all three games) and may be purchased here: https://am.ticketmaster.com/mohegan/DayBasketball2023.
