In the girls’ state championship game a year ago, New London High won the CIAC Class MM game at Mohegan Sun - otherwise known as “Dudleyville” for a night.

That was partly because Nalyce Dudley scored 13 points for the Whalers, en route to her honor as The Day’s Player of the Year. But it was younger sister Nyarah Dudley who stole the spotlight in the state championship game, scoring 14 points as a freshman in the win over Mercy.

This season, while Nalyce has graduated and is playing at Sacred Heart, Nyarah is a centerpiece to the team’s bid to repeat. Nyarah and the Whalers will play defending Class L state champion E.O. Smith at Mohegan Sun Arena on Monday in the third Day Holiday Classic at 4 p.m.

Dudley sat down with GameDay last week and talked about her experiences. See the video on theday.com or here https://youtu.be/AaNing3DJdw

The Day Holiday Classic will also feature the defending the Windsor boys vs. New London at 6 p.m. and the defending state Division I boys’ champion East Catholic vs. defending state Division II champion St. Bernard at 8.

Tickets are $10 (one ticket good for all three games) and may be purchased here: https://am.ticketmaster.com/mohegan/DayBasketball2023.
