I read the article, “Walkout by New London kindergartners sparks debate,” (March 16), about the kindergarten safety walk and felt I needed to remind people of the fact that Sandy Hook students were safely in their classrooms when a shooter entered. Same with every other student in other schools, too many to mention here.

I have few questions. Does the school need permission to take students out for recess? If not, and they didn't leave the grounds, why do they need permission slips? Does Board of Edudation member Jason Catala and others really want to destroy careers over this?
