Confused: Visiting Mystic Seaport or a hardware big-box?

As I was driving down Route 27 in Mystic a short time ago, I was taken aback thinking that the Stonington Planning and Zoning folks allowed a Home Depot to be built right in the middle of a historic section of town. Upon further inspection, I realized it was just the new signs being installed at The Mystic Seaport.

I don't mean to disparage Home Depot in any way, shape or fashion, as I love that store and am a regular customer. But the bright orange signs at the Seaport are clearly out of place in the community and do not identify with the culture and ethos of a venerable organization such as the Seaport. I question the need for re-branding (and the group of folks that bought into this ludicrous bill of goods)

I suspect that my new membership cards will also contain this gaudy logo and I hope that when I visit the museum I don't confuse these with my hardware store credit card. Please, I implore you, reconsider and trash this "highway caution sign" art deco look and return to the dignified Americana logo that so aptly identified with my beloved Seaport.
