Catholic Church cover-up aided by weak Connecticut laws

Journalistic plaudits to Day Reporter Joe Wojtas for his courageous, chilling investigative expose on the alleged disgusting sexual abuse and harassment of former St. Agnes Church Deacon Mark King, “Deacon accuses Niantic priest of attempted sexual assault,” (Dec. 2).

Included in Wojtas' story are refusals from the Norwich Diocese to cooperate with law enforcement by releasing church and diocese records of sexual abuse complaints against Rev. Gregory Mullaney. Diocesan spokesman Wayne Gignac also refuses to share Deacon King's complaints against Reverend Mullaney with the public.

All part of an overall, world-wide, Catholic Church high level cover-up of rampant sexual abuse in the church. Unfortunately, Connecticut's pitifully weak criminal statutes help fuel that cover-up.
