Editorial gave Sabilia undue credit on Waterford Fire Dept. policy

The editorial, “Waterford tackles difficult challenge of providing fire protection,” (Oct. 15), is factual except for one comment. The review of the Waterford Fire Services had its origin not from Beth Sabilia, as indicated, but was initiated in the RTM approximately one year ago by Republican members of the RTM. A letter was submitted by M. Perkins (R) and T. Condon (R) Waterford First District representatives. Representative Condon is chair of the RTM Public Protection and Safety Committee. The letter called for a complete review of the Waterford fire services. The resulting move also halted action by the Oswegatchie Fire Company Building Committee.

    Richard F. Muckle

    RTM Representative

    3rd District

    Waterford

Editor's note: The editorial did not claim Sabilia initiated the review but instead cited her "work on this policy initiative" as a RTM Public Protection and Safety Committee member.
