Take it from Mullane, Mastroianni is the best choice for North Stonington
I am a previous first selectman and selectman for North Stonington. I served over 40 years, including a six-year term on the Board of Finance. I am well versed in the operations of our community and remain active and informed, attending as many meetings as I can.
I am not pleased with what I have observed the past two years concerning the administration now running our town government. I ask that voters support Brett Mastroianni for first selectman and Robert Carlson as selectman.
I have worked with Brett both in the government and with community projects and have found him to be a hard-working, conscientious individual who is willing to take the lead, but also to compromise and work with others. Brett believes in our selectmen/town meeting form of government that allows all citizens to take part in the decisions that rule our town. He will listen, make information accessible in Town Hall and keep the selectmen, boards and commissions better informed.
Brett pledges to reduce the salary and benefits of first selectmen, saving about $45,000. For the public's convenience he will have set office hours.
He has deep community roots, a business − Holly Green − and is raising his family here.
Please remember to vote Tuesday.
Nicholas H. Mullane II

Finding a cooperative path to move forward

Senate censure, criminal trial would be better than impeachment
I have pondered the question of the possible Senate impeachment trial of Donald Trump. An argument could be made that Senate witnesses or victims from the Jan. 6 Capitol riot are now judge and jury. No witness or victim in our justice system can be a jury member or judge in a criminal case they...

So, we have seen what happens when people blindly follow an autocratic cult leader for four long years. It has been beyond tragic and our recovery will take some time. We ask ourselves why these followers did not question Trump’s behavior and continued to believe his lies and false...
