Recent Day editorial was 'disappointing and bland'
The editorial run in The Day − “Protest, work for change, but reject violence” — on June 2 was disappointing and bland. We all see the global reactivity. The May 30 rally in New London was appropriate, expressive and humane. We should be overwhelmingly proud of ourselves — and our leadership.
An eloquent and proactive conversation occurred between Police Chief Peter Reichard and the NAACP leadership preliminarily. Righteous nonviolence was the order of the convening. A sense of community prevailed. We in New London have been subjected to the same COVID-19, asocial distancing and isolation, racial and ethnic admixing and economic stressors as others. And yet, we participated deliberatively, thoughtfully, rationally; and with wisdom, respect, dignity and equanimity. New London proud! Exemplar to the nation!
