Don't let Respler develop Mystic property

The devil is in the detail!

The development agreement between Town of Groton and Respler Homes allows Respler on or before closing on Mystic Oral School property to “create a single purpose entity to act as the Exclusive Developer of the Project so long as Respler Homes, LLC retains the controlling voting interest in said single purpose entity.” Section 3.01. The surrogate entity “shall assume all of Developer’s rights and obligations hereunder; in such event Developer shall be released of all rights, obligations and liabilities under this Agreement.” Section 11.01 (c).

    Really?

Jeffrey Respler’s criminal record involving racketeering, perjury, bribery, kickbacks, prevailing wage, and benefit plan violations; his failure to honor restitution payments ordered at his sentencing and under a civil lawsuit settlement to restore union benefit funds; and his cavalier treatment of neighbors and egregious overreach of zoning variances for a swimming pool all raise serious questions regardless. With court documents in the public record, the town’s continued support of this developer is astonishing. To grant him sole discretion to create a substitute entity to develop the property beggar’s belief. Who is watching over this appointment? Anyone?
