Replacing members of a commission for political reasons is wrong, but that's why Robert Thorn and Timothy May are being replaced when their respective terms expire in January.

The Montville Water Pollution Control Authority is a five-member panel comprising people appointed by the Town Council. The WPCA was created so that decisions could be made without political influences and pressure from the town government.

Mr. May and Dr. Thorn are well-educated and dedicated professionals who have served on the WPCA commission for several years and are doing an excellent job. To not renew their appointments and to select others to fill their positions for political purposes is wrong.

Please support Mr. May and Dr. Thorn by telling the Montville Town Council to reappoint them on Dec. 13 at a meeting scheduled to be held at Montville Town Hall.
