    Hard Work, Commitment, and Generosity

Shakespeare on the Shoreline celebrated its 12th season on the Guilford Green. This summer's play, Much Ado About Nothing, was performed by Shakesperience Productions, Inc. Three evenings of Shakespeare talk backs were added, bringing the audience together with the director, cast, and representatives from Guilford Preservation Alliance and Historic Guilford Walking Tours, providing insight into the production and significance of this event on the Guilford Green.

The cast also presented two wonderful public performances of The Sword in the Stone for campers at Jacobs Beach in Guilford and the Madison Surf Club.

From July 29 to Aug. 2, resident actors provided a theater experience for 25 children aged 7 to 15. This theater intensive provided these Rising Stars with skills such as script interpretation, projection, and staging, but more important promoted creativity, critical thinking, cooperation, literary enrichment, and self-confidence.

These programs happen because of the hard work, commitment, and generosity of this community-because they share our passion that the arts enrich and inform our lives, build community, and above all are fun! Thanks go to the Guilford Board of Selectmen and our season sponsors Sennheiser Electronic Corporation, Connecticut Office of the Arts, NEA, and NewAlliance Foundation. Additional thanks go to Shakespeare on the Shoreline sponsors Mary and Jeff Beeman, Chubb, Connecticut Humanities, Liz and Niall Ferguson, First Niagara Foundation, Guilford Foundation, Guilford Fund for Education, Guilford Savings Bank, National Roofing, ShakesPEERS, the Courier/Shore Publishing, Yale-New Haven Hospital, Boy Scout Troop 474, Christ Episcopal Church, Super Wash Laundry, and Total Interiors and to the host families, the many businesses and individuals who purchased ads, photographers Judy Barbosa and Steve McGuire, students from Guilford High School, TAPs, and Women Recreating Retirement group.

We look forward to summer 2014 and presenting another engaging, educational, and enjoyable family event to residents and visitors!
