Our National Anthem can't be overplayed

I have attended many youth football games over the years. At the beginning of each game fans and players are asked to stand while the National Anthem is played. I am still trying to wrap my head around the statement made at the beginning of the 10U game held at the Groton/Mystic game on Sept. 7.

"We are not going to play the National Anthem because we have already done that once today."

I was highly offended by this remark as were many military family members that were in attendance. Since when has the playing of the National Anthem been trumped by concern over games running late? What a great lesson to teach our children. The National Anthem isn't as important as getting these games under way.

Keep up the good work whoever made that call. Our children deserve more!
