Have we lost our moral compass?

I noted with sadness The Day’s front page articles, “Planned Parenthood funding safe for now,” and “Delta, American and United ban shipments of ‘big five’ hunting trophies,” (Aug. 4).

So while an airline bans transporting hunting trophies of a dead animal, our U.S., Senate voted to condone the selling of baby body parts taken from a live baby, ostensibly in the safe harbor of a mother’s womb.

The Democratic Party supports this as a women’s health issue. It is a known fact that a baby feels pain after it is trying to avoid the forceps used by doctors to end its life.

I immediately called our two Democratic senators, Blumenthal and Murphy to find out how they voted. Their offices stated that both Senators voted to maintain funding to Planned Parenthood, and had no comment on the sale of unborn baby parts for profit.

I hate to mention the awful medical experiments done by the Nazis during World War II, but I suspect this is just a microcosm of what we may expect in the future.

How could a major party like the Democrats support funding for this kind of action? Have we lost our moral compass?
