Robert Fromer’s excellent op-ed, “Perpetual-growth economy is impossible,” (June 22), should be required reading in high schools and colleges throughout this country. I commend The Day for publishing it. Years ago, Edward Abbey, the environmental activist, expressed pretty much the same thoughts more succinctly, “Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell.”
