    Citizens Police Academy wonderful experience

Nov. 29 was the end of a 10-week experience that deserves praise and recognition. I was fortunate to be accepted into the recent session of Citizens Police Academy in New London. The New London Police Department is a force about whcih to be very proud. Not only are the officers, captains and chief highly knowledgeable and efficient in their duties, they are some of the most caring and compassionate people I have ever met.

This class of about 15 people were all given a snapshot of all aspects of daily police life, legal aspects, detective work and more. Aside from the basic classroom sharing of facts and scenarios, we were all given practical hands-on opportunities to solve a crime, conduct motor vehicle stops and even act out a "use of force" scenario. Many of us left those scenes with eyes wide open, and an even greater respect for the force. I was sad to have the course end, would recommend it highly, and fervently commend Capt. Brian Wright and all the staff for a job well done. I pray for the safety of these men and women and appreciate you all, most sincerely.
