Fagan got it right on 'sand castles'

Steve Fagan's nicely understated analogy, "Lessons from Harvey," (Sept. 2), is about children building and rebuilding sand castles in spite of their knowledge that the returning tide will destroy their creations. Children then return the next day to build again. Fagan's words are timely.

As Donald Trump denies and the number of climate change related disasters increase, we, the taxpayers, continue to subsidize flood insurance which encourages the rebuilding of homes and businesses in increasingly flood prone areas.

While we in the United States refuse to act decisively to prepare for climate change we, the inhabitants of Earth, have no idea what we will do when tens of millions of hungry people need to migrate from Bangladesh.

    And Donald Trump dithers. Scary.
