    Keep North Stonington schools project

If the citizens of North Stonington vote to undo the referendum for the school project that had a “yes” vote a year and a half ago, it would be the biggest mistake that the town has ever made. Real estate values will take a huge plunge. A large amount of time and money will have been wasted. Volunteers have worked for years and a significant amount of money has been spent on preparation already to insure that the town and students have school buildings that are safe and adequate to ensure the continuation of North Stonington’s excellent education system. A townwide vote approved the project. A smaller town meeting should not override this legitimate decision. That would be a slap in the face of democracy.

In order to save the quality of our town, residents should attend the town meeting and vote to keep the school building project on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m. in the elementary school gymatorium.
