Day opinion pages provide a public service

Editorial Page Editor Paul Choiniere's May 17 column, regarding the Gannett publishing company, was much appreciated as a reminder/example of the integrity and public service inspired by newspapers — or the lack thereof when it comes to Gannett.

The Day editorials in particular stand out for insight and the background cited for their positions, whether the topics are local, national or global. I enjoy and am educated by the outstanding Opinion/Perspective sections of The Day. The beach editorial for May 17 was typically right on!
