Cate Steel would address troubling injustices

As recent events have shown, there is much room for improvement in how police protect and serve their respective communities. Even now, additional legislation on police accountability is under consideration in Hartford.

In a few months, we will have an opportunity to elect representatives able to provide constructive leadership in driving needed change. In her recent article: (https://ctexaminer.com/2020/06/16/peace-officers-strengthen-communities/) discussing earlier legislation supporting additional police transparency, Cate Steel − who is running to represent East Lyme and Salem in the 37th house District − offered such leadership.

If we wish to address the injustices that seem unfortunately to characterize too much of our country, we need capable representatives willing to seek new and promising approaches, to advocate vigorously for their adoption, to bridge differences and represent the concerns of the entire community, and to help manage solutions from concept into successful implementation.

From what I have learned about Ms. Steel regarding her position on policing, among other issues, I believe she offers what is needed to address the many challenges confronting us, and I will enthusiastically support her in this election.
