    Unfair take on Levy

Mr. Choiniere’s editorial against Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ms. Leora Levy is simply unfair, “Blumenthal big winner if GOP rejects Klarides,” (Aug. 7).

He states that “Levy is the worst kind of Trump supporter — an opportunistic phony.”

Yes, it is true that many Republicans – including Ms. Levy and myself – were not initially Trump fans. But he won the presidency and gave this country four years of peace and prosperity. It is not unusual to look at his record in a different light.

He also berates Ms. Levy for changing her position from pro-choice to pro-life. Does Mr. Choiniere know anything about Connecticut politics? Does he not know that Connecticut is the second most pro-choice state in the country after Vermont? Does he honestly believe that Ms. Levy changed her position on this volatile issue because she is “an opportunistic phony”? By his own admission, he states Republican delegates choose Ms. Klarides because of her moderate positions on social issues.

Ms. Levy reconsidered her position after recalling some of her difficult pregnancies.

Is Mr. Choiniere aware that strongly pro-choice individuals are highly sophisticated and astute voters? They know that no matter what Ms. Klarides says, she will come under tremendous pressure to vote for conservative justices should a Republican win the presidency.
