Experience isn’t enough to get his vote

Nick Gauthier's record speaks for itself. From the moment he graduated from Waterford High School, he began supporting the election of our congressional representatives and advocating for his community. As a working professional, Nick served as a labor organizer supporting the rights, dignity, and livelihoods of working people. As a member of Waterford's RTM, he has remained steadfast in his calls for collaboration and innovation in the face of increasingly caustic partisanship from some of his Republican colleagues. As a candidate, Nick has remained honest, accountable, and transparent.

I fall in the unique position of having campaigned against both Representatives Gauthier and McCarty and feel fortunate to have learned from both. Representative McCarty is a well-respected member of our General Assembly but has long touted experience as a reason to earn our support. Experience has no value unless it is used to benefit our district with legislation that reflect our values and benefit our citizens. After eight years, we are left with a record that has failed to deliver on the values and policies that Waterford and Montville require.

On Nov. 8, I will give my vote to Nick Gauthier.

    Baird L. Welch-Collins
