Where exactly should the food pantry be located?

Poor Barry Levine. Those Unsightly People, the nearly 20% of his neighbors and mine, the ones who are food insecure in New London, are marring his Grand Plan. Or rather the people who are trying to help them, the New London Area Food Pantry, are, by proposing a food distribution center, one that treats them with dignity and would be accessible, right in the middle of his city. He just will not have it. (“New London PZC chair criticizes location for proposed food pantry,” March 3.)

And where should the center, and the housing help site (already turned back) go? Under the highway overpass? Out by the dump? Montville?

The next meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission is on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
