Fresh ideas from new council candidates

In my youth, I served our “Fair City” in eight years on City Council and two years as Mayor. Since then I have been disappointed with the efforts of later council members. I am more than pleased to have met and support the two petitioning Democratic candidates who are unique in their approach and ideas to improve the work of the new council.

I have known Mirna Martinez for years and was impressed by her service with the Board of Education and her community service and leadership since then. Mirna is a powerful force throughout New London and the region. She will be a vital improvement and will bring forward essential change in the council approach to New London’s future.

Shineika Fareus is exactly what we need to represent the youthful members of our community. As a Martin Luther King Scholarship winner and her full scholarship in completing college with honors, she will bring an exciting approach to our city’s challenging future. She recently purchased her home in our Freedom Trail Neighborhood.

These two young women will be vital leaders in New London’s exciting future.
