    ‘Why aren’t women doing less?’

In a recent Opinion article, “It’s time for women to quit housework,” The Day, Sept. 9, Sarah Greene Carmichael explores the gap between men and women in time spent on housekeeping. It seems, she finds, that the time difference has narrowed in recent years, because men are doing more of it. Yet because women are also doing more, the gap has not narrowed so much as expected. “If men are doing more,” she asks, “why aren’t women doing less?” Well, here's a thought. The more things men do, the more time women spend fixing what they have done!
