What’s going on with the Stonington Democrats? Defund the police. Wave a PLO Flag?

As the former Police Chair and First Selectman, I know public safety was an important issue for our citizens.

And yet a Democratic candidate for Board of Finance has recommended we cut funding for the police because Stonington ‘has no crime.’ Really? Well, there’s no better way to encourage crime than to defund the police.

Then there is the Second Selectman candidate who profiles a picture on his Facebook of someone waving a Palestine Liberation Organization flag. Why not the American flag? And why a flag of the terrorist PLO?

On April 18, 1983, a close friend was killed with 16 other Americans when a terrorist’s truck bombed the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon. Thereafter, the Wall Street Journal reported that the bombing was due to the “continuing intransigence of the PLO.”

Yes, the PLO is a hateful organization that kills Jews and those who support them. They want to eliminate the State of Israel. Why is a Democrat who supports the PLO a good selection for the Stonington Board of Selectmen?

Longtime Democrats need to take a close look at who their party is promoting for election this November in Stonington.
