Hardworking Southard for Town Council
When I needed help at the high school concession stand at the last minute, I called my friend Kate Southard. She came in a moment’s notice, and worked inside, sweating in the heat, restocking our food items at the football game. No one knew she was there; she was helping a friend, and helping a good cause (Montville Athletic Boosters). That is Kate.
As chairperson of the Montville Parks and Recreation Commission, Kate has displayed leadership and organizational skills required to sort through and prioritize the many challenging issues with the town’s recreational programs and facilities. She was instrumental in identifying maintenance and improvements needed in our park facilities, including securing a $500,000 grant towards the costs of the new tennis and pickleball complex at Camp Oakdale. Under her leadership, a new accessible playground was built at the community center, and a new playground is authorized for Desjardins Park.
Kate has shown a willingness and an ability to break down political party walls and work with everyone needed to get the necessary information, make the right decision and get the needed funding to get the job done. I strongly endorse Kate for a position on the Town Council.
