Will of the people at risk in Stonington

I am dismayed to learn we are losing our democracy, even on a small scale. Our votes no longer count in Stonington; the will of the people chose Farrah Garland for a seat on the Board of Finance by quite a large number of votes (3,052). Now there is a CT State law that allows the Republicans to challenge the election outcome: minority representation clause, or “sore loser” clause. The nearest Republican had (2,477) votes. This could happen in any town in Connecticut, since it is a state law — no more will of the people, no more democracy. We are starting to mimic big government with their antics. Very disappointing. Choose the will of the people, and they chose Farrah Garland.
