Land available for Norwich police station, why buy more?

I am writing in regards to the Norwich proposal to buy land for the new police station. The city owns, I believe, the end of Golden Street which was the site of the now torn down old Greenville School. The school, which was probably three times as large as the police station, had ample parking and was close to the downtown area. Some thought should have been given to this site before demolishing the building. They still own the land; why not use it rather buying more land? SPEND SPEND SPEND.
