Where to start? Indeterminate, perhaps between Exodus and Oct. 8. Regardless, women and children are currently being killed in Gaza, some in refugee camps. This is an affront to humanity, without nuances. Simply answer the question, yes or no, should innocent children, by the thousands, be killed unnecessarily? Because a ceasefire would stem the flow of destruction. Be it added, this writer is no peacenik, supports Israel, but sees in the current annihilation of civil infrastructure and indiscriminate killing the sowing of at least two more generations of wrath. What one sows might be reaped, and Israel itself acknowledges the paradigm of an eye for an eye.

As much an issue are the interests of the United States. We are being blamed for the destruction of Gaza. Travel abroad will be increasingly dangerous for U.S. citizens. The U.S. may be pulled into an international war. Terrorist attacks on the U.S. are likely to increase. Hamas is evil, but evil thrives where people lose hope. Target the wrongdoers, do not injure bystanders who have no place to go. And feed the hungry, for that is good. The world is watching.
