Where’s the debate on nuclear weapons?

Regarding the nuclear weapons ban article, “Banning nuclear in the new year,” The Day Jan. 19, I have for many years regretted that there is no debate on this subject here in the Second Congressional District or in the U.S. Congress. Considering the destructive power of these weapons, and their existential threat, there should be some opposing voices during congressional races. Any justification for the continued development of these weapons and their delivery systems would have to include an explanation as to why the U.S. continues to ignore the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and why the expense of these weapons might be used to better life in our country.
