Kudos for East Lyme Zoning Commission’s proactive stance

I am writing to commend Dr. Gary Pivo, Denise Markovitz and Cathy Yuhas, Democratic members of the East Lyme Zoning Commission, for their exceptional dedication and proactive approach in pushing for improvements to the Bride Brook project.

Despite facing resistance from the developer, Dr. Pivo, Markovitz and Yuhas have tirelessly advocated for necessary changes and asked critical questions to ensure the project aligns with the community's best interests. Their commitment to thorough examination and insistence on enhancements demonstrate their unwavering dedication to serving the town and its residents.

It is disheartening to note that some commission members have opposed their efforts and have not maintained decorum in these meetings. However, the proactive stance taken by our new Democrat members proves that when it wants to, the Zoning Commission can do quite a lot to influence the projects in East Lyme.

Dr. Pivo, Denise Markovitz and Cathy Yuhas exemplify the values of accountability and civic engagement, reshaping the narrative around zoning decisions and advocating for positive change. Their leadership sets a commendable example for public service and underscores the importance of active participation in town development
