A first selectman to be proud of

As an East Lyme newbie resident who moved here from a much bigger city, I wanted to describe how impressed I have been by the initial leadership moves of our newly elected first selectman, Dan Cunningham.

First, under Mr. Cunningham’s leadership, he has resolved a complex and longstanding dispute regarding leadership of our fire services. This issue might not have been front of mind for all East Lyme residents, but he took it on right away, navigating a complex challenge and getting everyone aligned behind what is a very sensible fire leadership plan. Our community well-being is the better for it!

Second, Mr. Cunningham is clearly committed to the preservation of open spaces, a huge reason I chose to live in East Lyme. This work ensures that we can all enjoy the natural beauty of our town for many years to come.

Finally, I’m impressed by Mr. Cunningham’s responsiveness to individual constituent needs. I can’t tell you how many letters I wrote that went unanswered where I came from. Our East Lyme first selectman is a representative I’m proud of. I will be watching for what he can do next!
