ESL program empowered me to succeed

The recent discussions regarding the New London Adult Education program deeply resonate with me.

As an immigrant who arrived in America in 2001, I can personally attest to the transformative power of the program, particularly the English as a Second Language (ESL) initiative. As a newcomer to America, navigating daily life presented a significant challenge due to the language barrier. The ESL program at New London Adult Education became my lifeline. It wasn't just about acquiring basic English skills; it provided a solid foundation in understanding U.S. civics, empowering me to participate actively in my new community. The program's impact transcended the classroom. It instilled confidence, a sense of belonging and encouraged civic engagement. This strong foundation paved the way for me to pursue higher education, ultimately leading to an MBA and the rewarding experience of serving as an elected official.

Therefore, I urge continued support and investment in programs like this. Their significance in shaping engaged citizens and propelling individuals towards fulfilling lives cannot be overstated.
