    Trip down memory lane

After reading Rick Koster’s article, ‘At Mohegan Sun, one last ”Yellow Ribbon,’“ I remembered that before there was a Mohegan Sun, Norwich held the annual Rose Arts Festival. Those attending entered ”dressed to-the-nines,“ carrying coolers with libations and snacks past a rope-line of onlookers. It was our own red carpet moment and we felt like celebrities.

The entertainment for the evening in 1973, was booked well in advance, and in a fortuitous twist of fate, it was Tony Orlando and Dawn; ”Tie a Yellow Ribbon“ was number one on the charts. What a great night and memory. Thank you T.O. and D and all the best to you Tony for a long and happy retirement.
