You want a data center, put it in your own back yard

According to The Day article March 21 “Legislative committee approves data center study bill,” Rep. Paul Ackert, R-Coventry, voted against the bill. Attention Rep. Ackert: If you really like the idea of a data center, please build one in your town. See if your hometown residents will enjoy all the issues we are trying to avoid. Better yet build it in your backyard behind your house. You can enjoy looking at a 1.5-million square-foot brick wall two stories tall with a constant humming sound day in and day out. As a host town, you get all the benefits.

Your residents can also enjoy paying higher electricity rates since the grid will have to make up the 300 megawatts of energy by purchasing more expensive electricity from more expensive sources. That’s if the grid can find the extra energy to purchase.

What’s a shame is you will never see this comment since you are blind to all the facts that were presented at the legislative meeting. You were out voted 12 to 3, thankfully. But please, once again build it behind your home and enjoy all the issues; you deserve it.
