Who stole the Poquonnock River Boardwalk?

One of our favorite things in Groton is the Poquonnock River Boardwalk and gazebo. They offer wonderful views of the river and birds and are wheelchair accessible. This week, my wife and I went there and found the parking lot and wheelchair ramp closed off with ugly threatening signs announcing that the entire parking lot was now reserved for somebody’s auto repair shop. The metal signs are very explicit about exactly how much one is to be charged for towing and retrieving your illegally parked car. Since when? How on earth did a public parking area get turned into a private auto repair lot?
