Vermont off the rails and out of juice

Reading The Day (Saturday, June 1) AP article by Lisa Rathke, "Vermont to seek money from oil companies for climate change,” I couldn’t help but think, here’s a thought for all of you in the Green Mountain State: Turn off your lights, disconnect your stoves, park your cars, turn off the ski lifts and enjoy the bliss of an energy-free society. Until technology provides you with happiness in knowing that climate change has been thwarted, what choice do you really have? Sue the energy providers? Good luck with that one. Maybe they can figure out that their litigious folly is at present ridiculous.

Idiocy may soon be coming to a state near you. New York, Massachusetts and Maryland "are considering similar measures.” Two people died in the Vermont flood last year that spurred this legislation. Eighty-four people died in the Vermont flood of 1927. Maybe they should have sued then? Let's hope our Nutmeg State is smart enough not to get into a fray that is not winnable and unaffordable.
