Parking violators abuse City Pier’s accessibility for all
One of the truly enjoyable locations in New London is the small park at City Pier. It is a place of beauty and tranquility right in the heart of the downtown area. I try to spend a few moments there as often as possible.
Conversely, one of the most disheartening and disappointing facets of that delightful place is the continual abuse of the few handicap-access parking spaces available there. Even when there are other spaces open, some people choose to park in violation of the posted signs instead.
As a veteran with limited mobility, this presents a serious concern for me. Everyone is aware that New London police have many other, often pressing issues to deal with, but I am sure there is occasionally time available for officers to pass through the park and address those parking violators with the citations they most certainly deserve.
