Distressed swimmer at Connecticut state park dies

DURHAM (AP) — Authorities have identified a 21-year-old West Haven man who drowned at Millers Pond State Park in Durham.
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says Richard Bland was declared dead Wednesday at Middlesex Hospital. Officials identified Bland Thursday.
The agency said Thursday that rescue workers pulled Bland from the water at about 5:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Additional details were not immediately available, but environmental officials are investigating.
